The National Art Gallery, one of the most important in Italy, was opened to public in 1809 and is located in a building, where there are also other cultural institutions such as the Library Braidense, the Astronomical Observatory, the Botanical Garden, the Istituto Lombardo Accademy of Science & Literatures and the Academy of Fine Arts. Its asset consists of extraordinary masterpieces to be admired by following a chronological order from the Gothic by Gentile da Fabriano in ‘500 with Mantegna, Bellini, Titian, Tintoretto. Bramante, Raffaello and Piero della Francesca are not missing
From the 17th and 18th centuries is well represented Venice with Tiepolo, Piazzetta, Canaletto, Guardi till the nineteenth century with Hayez and many others. Private donations complete the twentieth century with works by Medardo Rossi, Boccioni, Carrà, Morandi and other artists. At the end, short walk along the Brera district
